CALS Learning Community Coordinator Award

Award Requirements

NOTE: This award was discontinued in 2023. 

Purpose:  To recognize CALS faculty and staff members for outstanding coordination of a learning community in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Eligibility:  CALS Faculty and P&S staff with a minimum of three years of service at CALS during which they were involved in coordination of an undergraduate student learning community.  Recipients must be CALS employees at the time of the CALS Spring Awards Ceremony.

Nature of the awards:  $500 one-time stipend

Number of awards:  One faculty award and one P&S staff award

Criteria:  Documented evidence, including feedback from student participants and mentors, of outstanding coordination of the learning community.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS;

1. Nomination Statement:  (2 pages maximum) Discuss why the nominee is deserving of the award. Indicate the range of coordination done and describe other activities related to their coordination duties.

2. Resume or Vita:  A current resume or vita covering background and accomplishments as a coordinator.

3. Statement by the Nominee:  (2 pages) A philosophy statement related to student success using learning communities by the nominee.

4. Letters:  (6 letters maximum) This section should be prefaced with a list of the names and positions of the letter writers and an indication of their relevance to the nomination.  Letters should come from current and former learning community student, mentors, as well as colleagues.

5. Student Feedback Data:  Student feedback information should be displayed in summary form.
