CALS Faculty Award for Diversity Enhancement

Award Requirements

NOTE: This award has been renamed the CALS Faculty Inclusive Excellence Award as of 2024. 

Purpose: To recognize a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences faculty member who has enhanced diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging within the department, college, university or community.

Eligibility: Tenured, tenure-eligible or term faculty who have been employed in CALS for a minimum of one year at the time of the nomination deadline. Recipient must be a CALS employee at the time of the CALS Spring Awards Ceremony.

Number of Awards: One award.

Amount of Award: $500 one-time stipend.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Submit the CALS award cover sheet.
  2. Submit a nominating letter no more than three pages describing the nominee's contributions to enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in their professional role. Diversity refers to under-represented groups in our society or in aspects of our society. Iowa State University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, sex, marital status, disability or status as a U.S. Veteran. Diversity enhancement activities include, but are not limited to: efforts to integrate and promote diversity-enriching experiences into teaching, research and outreach activities; the recruitment, training and retention of individuals from under-represented groups; the building of relationships with minority-serving institutions; and outreach targeted to diverse groups in Iowa or the United States.
  3. Submit two additional letters of support.
  4. Submit an abbreviated curriculum vita, not to exceed four pages, which highlights inclusivity contributions.
